TV downsizing

I'm not ashamed of my love of (bad) TV. I didn't get cable until well into grad school. I didn't own my own TV until I became a professor. I'm an adult; I can watch reality TV if I want.

Lately, I've been thinking about rearranging my cable package.

If you could only have one channel, which one would it be?

Comedy Central. I can't live without my Jon Stewart & Colbert Report.

The one where they have all the shows like "The Good Wife", "Gilmore Girls", "CSI", "NCIS, and a couple of BBC ones too because I like my historical drama.

A news channel; I can get everything else in timely enough manner online.

Wow, that's easy. PBS.

Toss up between ESPN and the Discovery channel. I'm leaning towards sports.

Y'know, I think I can Hulu everything I watch (South Park, Daily Show, Project Runway)...so I don't know.

Why, why, why don't they sell cable tv channels a la carte?

I'm repeating the hulu.com .... since that seems to be filling my need (as if we can talk about need here) for TV. Then of course, there is those Law & Order marathon that aren't anywhere but TNT or USA...

and then there are those more local tv news too - although I don't watch them too much. Fox sports/ESPN/other sports channel comes to mind though, football.... :) and verizon for the hockey.

I watch way too much USA (NCIS reruns, Psych, Burn Notice, etc).

CBC. Good mix of news, documentaries, original and syndicated sitcoms and dramas, all the big sporting events.

Second choice? Comedy Central, or maybe BBC World. It's a bit too heavy though.

FOOD NETWORK!!

Everything else, I can (and do) watch online, since I'm generally in the lab late enough that I miss the good stuff. But nothing can replace the Food Network! Ace of Cakes, Iron Chef America, Diners Drive-ins & Dives, Dinner: Impossible... love!

Oh that's a tough one! My gut is to say the Network That Runs My Undergrad Institution's Football Games. But I could always go to a bar and watch them. It's a toss up between Comedy Central and Food Network. Daily Show + Iron Chef = Love.
