At LargeU, there are many religious people. In my department, in general, religious people are kind of treated like the female grad students and faculty that are pregnant-- you can't get rid of them, you can't (openly) discriminate them, you secretly look down on them, and you give them a wide berth in case you catch their condition.
So why is it then, that once a religious holiday rolls around, the halls are suddenly deserted?
