I'm not an alcoholic-- I'm untenured

What got me through today was a dangling carrot.

(My dangling carrot being a cold beer. Or two.)

Why is spring semester so much harder than the fall semester? (This is not meant to be a rhetorical question.)

Cheers!

How many weeks left of teaching?

Because you started Spring semester already drained from Fall semester. At least in Fall, there's a bit of new year hopefulness and usually there's been a decent, grading-free period since you last taught... It always feels like Spring SHOULD be easier - longer days, the weather getting better, no lost freshers all over campus asking very basic questions - but it isn't.

I'm using that philosophy today. If I get my lab work done, I can go out drinking =)

Spring is hard because there is light at the end of the teaching-year tunnel but it can't come fast enough! There is nothing worse that it getting nice outside and being stuck doing work.

I totally understand you! Spring is just very very hard and you already have more than a couple of months of teaching on your shoulders.

Cheers! ;)

I don't know, but spring semester in law school is WAY WORSE than fall semester. In the first year, at least! Sheesh!

Hope you enjoyed your beer!

It's also sucks because the weather is usually soooo nice outside.

Sigh. I'm in the lab today and it is beautiful out. It does suck.

Stepwise girl, we're at three weeks and change. Whew.

JaneB: yeah, I thought that the longer days would help a lot; they just remind me that I'm *still* at work! :-)

Albatross: I hope you are out drinking already!

PhDLadybug: I'm definitely looking forward to summer!

NKotH: eesh. The thought of being on the other side of the desk makes my stomach turn.

Mad Chemist: no foolin'. My students like to point out the weather, like I haven't noticed it myself.

Best post title ever!

I've wondered the very same thing ever since I came back to school. I believe it has something to do with no classes (for credit) in the summer, and you go into the spring semester jaded by the fall term.
